Training courses for our clients
ASD has a long history of organizing training courses about oil palm cultivation for its clients. These courses have been taught mostly in Costa Rica, but also in several other countries. The last course for agronomists and agricultural technicians was given in Costa Rica in July 2006 and the next one is being prepared for July 2009. Watch for the publication of the details about this new course that will be posted soon on our website (www.asd-cr.com).
Outside Costa Rica, a course was recently organized in Venezuela in September 2008 and another in the Republic of the Congo in December. The Venezuela course was organized jointly with ANCUPA in the city of Carbobo in Venezuela. Under the umbrella of ASD, Gerardo Alpizar and Carlos Chinchilla participated as instructors. Course logistics were organized by ANCUPA and 20 technicians from private companies and official institutions attended.
In the capital of the Republic of the Congo, a short introductory course on oil palm cultivation was completed for technicians from the private and government sectors. This activity had historical importance, since it was the first of its kind to be held in this country and it coincided with the arrival of the first shipment of germinated oil palm seeds to this African region. ASD wishes to congratulate Pierre Angona for his pioneering efforts to establish oil palm cultivation as an alternative generator of jobs and opportunities for the economy of the Republic of the Congo.
