Compact x Nigeria (High Density Compact Variety)
This variety comes from the crossing of compact dura mother palms (originating from successive backcrossing of an E. oleifera x E. guineensis natural hybrid with exceptional characteristics to E. guineensis paternal lines), with parental lines (pisifera) originating from materials introduced from the Kade Experimental Station in Ghana that were developed by NIFOR in Nigeria. The palms of this variety have considerably shorter leaves and trunks than standard E. guineensis varieties, so they can be planted at 170 palms per hectare. Another distinctive trait of these palms is that they produce virescens and nigrescens bunches.
